Waltham Forest 1 Ware 1

Once again Ware dropped points after conceding a late goal.  That it came from an unnecessary free kick which bobbed around the six yard area before being prodded home by Kayan Kalipha only adds to the frustration.

Not that Ware's goal after 17 minutes was a classic, Danny Johnson's header bouncing off a defender's head and over the 'keeper before dropping into the net.  Only sympathy for the home player involved led to agreement all round that the goal be credited to the Ware man.  But it was a deserved reward for Ware's play up to that point as they had the better of the opening half on a difficult pitch that caused both sides to struggle all afternoon.

For some time after taking the lead Ware looked like adding to their total but once again failed to close off the game.  One period of ping pong in the Forest penalty area when no Ware forward could quite get in a strike and an excellent piece of build up play near the half time whistle which led to Michael Elliot firing just wide were their best chances.  The latter was just about the best piece of football seen all afternoon in a game that failed to rise to any great height.

The home side came more into things in the secong period and it was clear that Ware would not have things all their own way.  For the visitors Ricci Crace covered every blade of grass as he set a captain's example of tireless effort.

Meanwhile new signing Shannon Taylor looked a useful acquisition in midfield with Kieran Weekes also looking good up front before being withdrawn immediately after Forest's equaliser.  His replacement was the returning Ryan Mattos but he had only five minutes of normal time to affect the game.  Kain Roomes, another new signing, sat out the game on the substitutes' bench.

Ware: Madden, Elliot, Querry, Taylor, Adebiyi, V Rispoli, Adeoye, Johnson, Weekes (Mattos 85 mins), Crace, Blessing.  Subs not used: Martin, Roomes, Nethercott, Larner
