Goffs Oak 3 Ware XI 0

NEW Ware boss Stuart Nethercott ran the rule over a large number of trialists as an experimental Ware XI took on Goffs Oak on a synthetic surface at Wadham Lodge in Walthamstow.

Davie Edmee and Herve Malimabue were the only players who finished last season at Ware to be involved in the match, although Vince Rispoli came on as a substitute, having represented the club in the early stages of last term before departing for pastures new.

With regular goalkeeper Obey Murefu unavailable, youngster Dominic Coleman wore the gloves for the visitors, while there was a first outing for new signings Ricci Crace and Jon Stevenson in the first half.

Goffs Oak took the lead inside the first minute when a free kick into the box was parried by Coleman, but only as far as another Goffs Oak player, who slotted home from the rebound.

Ware gained possession soon after, and they were unlucky not to equalise in the ninth minute.

A header out of defence from Stevenson was flicked on by the head of Crace, but former Redbridge striker Nathaniel Hibbert saw his deflected shot go wide.

A minute later, Jimmy Martin cracked a left-footed effort towards goal, forcing the opposing keeper to tip the ball over the bar.

On the half-hour mark, a Goffs Oak forward beat the offside trap and went through one-on-one with Coleman, but the young keeper forced him wide and extinguished the danger.

Ware made a number of changes in personnel for the second half, but on 58 minutes they fell further behind when a free kick was sensationally fired home from 25 yards with the goalkeeper and defenders suffering from a lapse in concentration.

A header from new Ware signing Ben Andreos forced the Goffs Oak keeper to make a low save on 62 minutes, before trialist Marcus Sammons fired straight at the goalkeeper after being played in by Jack Ayling.

On 71 minutes it was 3-0 as Goffs Oak seized possession in midfield and their attacker let fly with a well-placed left-footed effort from outside the box that beat Coleman low to his right.

Andreos went close again in the closing stages after getting on the end of a cross from Rispoli, but the front man was unable to find the target.

Ware XI: Coleman, Teasdale, Bowyer, Stevenson, Bastian, Edmee, Malimabue, Martin, Crace, Hibbert, Lyons. Subs: Rispoli, Kayembe, Sammons, Andreos, Patterson, Powells, Ayling.

about 4 good players for ware in the first half, 2 center backs, big black striker, and the short fella in the middle, the rest need to leave. club need strength in depth as soon as.

Wasn't a strong team yesterday and Goffs Oak look pretty decent for a team for that standard, maybe a couple of their players could make the step up? #4 (captain) and #18 both look like they could do a job for us
