Boss eyes Trophy triumph
05 October 2011
WARE boss Stuart Nethercott has set out some of his targets for the immediate future in an interview with the official website.
The former Tottenham defender spoke with his usual enthusiasm after Tuesday night’s encouraging draw with fancied Brentwood Town.
And he believes the team is looking good defensively: “With the suspensions and injuries we’ve had, we haven’t really had the chance to create a solid defensive unit before, but it’s looking promising now.
“I don’t want to get too carried away as you know you can get a kick up the backside quite easily in this league.
“But we’re not too far off it now.”
Nethercott went on to add that he is looking for improvement going forward.
“ I think the final ball is letting us down a little bit,” he said. “We’ve got the players who are capable of doing it, we just need to make sure they’re consistently getting the ball in the right areas.”
Looking ahead, the boss is eyeing victory in this Saturday’s home FA Trophy tie against Ryman League Division One South side Chipstead.
And he has indicated that some players who have found themselves left out of the starting eleven in recent games could be in for some match time.
“I think we’ve got a decent squad at the present time with a lot of like for like players. It’s a chance to give some of the other players a game.
“I’ve got a report coming in on Chipstead this week so we’ll look at what their strengths and weaknesses are and try to play on their weaknesses.”
